Real Edo Period
Edo period SASUMATA, used by samurai police.
Weapons to catch armed suspects.
The pole is sturdy hardwood with very sharp metal barbs or spines attached to Iron strips on one end to keep the person being captured from grabbing the pole.
The head of the sasumata would be used to catch around the neck, arms, legs, or joints of a suspect and detain him until officers could close in and apprehend him. (Taiho-Jutsu).
This wooden pole is shorter than the original.
I cut the wooden pole shorter for air transportation.
Very good antique Condition.
There are rusts as you can see them in the photographs.
Everywhere is not broken.
Please check them out with photographs.
