Antique traditional Japanese ARIAKE ANDON wooden Room lantern

Signed on the bottom. 1897 August, YAMATOYA

(明治三十年 八月, 大和屋)
.

Character written in India ink to the Japanese paper (Washi).

The traditional Japanese Ariake Andon are cube shaped lanterns
that are used as a kind of nightlight lamps.

with washi paper and a black and red lacquer wood frame and handle.
and Original 2 pottery plate (Put rapeseed oil and Small candle ).

The outer cover having circular and crescent cut outs to suggest the moon,

the outer cover can also be used as a pedestal.

Weight : 1926g ( 67.9 oz )

Very good condition.

The Black has been repainted.

There are some cracks as you can see them in the photographs.
But it's nothing serious.
