Rare Antique Japanese Ninja Samurai GANDO lantern

1700S - 1800s  Edo period

This GANDO are those of the Edo era, it had been actually ninja or samurai use.

Though the Ninja operated mostly by night, even they needed some light now and then. 

The GANDO was a lantern that acted much as a flashlight.

This candle was supported by two gyros so regardless of how the ninja swung the gando, 
the candle would keep vertical and the light never disappeared.

General GANDO lamp is wooden or Iron, but copper is Very rare.

Gyros (3d rotation) is fully functional.

Material : Copper case, Copper gyros, Wooden handle,

Size : long 25cm,   diameter 20.5cm,  Weight 1033g (36.4 oz) 

Very good antique condition.
